Who needs to complete this course?
Silica awareness training is a program designed to identify and control the potential risk of exposure to silica dust. The training is primarily intended for those in the construction industry. It gives workers the skills and knowledge needed to reduce the health risks associated with crystalline silica.
How old do I have to be to do this course?
Working age 15 +
How long does the course go for?
- 4 hours (not including breaks)
Where is the course held?
- If you are outside of Victoria this course is available to you via Zoom. Please note that if you reside in Victoria you may need to attend this class face to face. If this is you, please get in touch on 1800 863 863 or email Tony on tonylewis@tme.edu.au

- Yes

What PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is required?
- None
Do I get the Certificate as soon as I complete the course satisfactorily?
- You will receive your certificate Within 14 working days.
Will there be someone helping us through the theory and practical?
- The trainer is experienced and will support you throughout
What happens if I fail the assessment?
- The trainer will confirm the knowledge gaps and provide necessary training so that you can have another go at the assessment.
Do I need to pay for further training?
- You will have 3 attempts to get through the assessment. If there is further training required there may be a fee.
Is the Course valid in all Australian States and Territories?
- The course is Nationally recognised.
Is this course mandatory for anyone working with Crystalline Silica or who may be exposed to it?
- It is mandatory in the following States
- ACT
- NSW
- Queensland
NOTE: It is not mandatory in Victoria, but is highly recommended.
