How Our Pest Control Courses Work
The Management Edge works with The Institute of Pest Risk Management to provide training solutions for the pest management industry. Our tailored and nationally accredited short course training programs cover the three key areas of training required for licensing and competent work. We also provide solutions for older, already competent workers who need to upgrade their training to the Certificate III level units. Learners are expected to be already employed in the industry.
Skill Set CPPSS00046: Manage non-timer pests
The course covers all the competencies generally required for a technician to obtain a licence to apply pesticides in their State or Territory.
The units commonly known as 5, 6 and 18 are the latest release:
CPPUPM3005 Manage pests without applying pesticides
CPPUPM3006 Manage pests by applying pesticides
CPPUPM3018 Maintain equipment and pesticide storage area in pest management vehicles
Skill Set CPPSS00047: Manage timber pests
The short course covers units 8 and 10 plus the often left out, unit 42. We believe that even those who specialise in building inspections can benefit from Unit 42’s understanding of installed systems. The course is usually taken by licensed technicians with experience in pest work. While termite management dominates the skills, the full range of wood degradation is covered and learners will develop skills to also identify and manage decay and beetles as well as work in new construction. This course provides the skills and knowledge to work with timber pests and these are increasingly a licence or insurance requirement.
Balance of Full course (CPPCMN3004, CPPUPM3017,CPPUPM4004,CPPUPM4006)
This course covers the most commonly sought after higher level skills with our selection of four smaller units that will give the learner a broad skill set that enables them to work competently and engage with clients. It is best taken after the other two short courses.
CPPCMN3004 Respond to enquiries and complaints
CPPUPM3017 Maintain, service and repair pest management equipment
CPPUPM4004 Assess and advise on pest management options for complex operations
CPPUPM4006 Implement and monitor pest management plans for complex operations
